New treatment of internal surface of infrastructure: influence on resistance to fracture and fatigue of Y-TZP crowns

The objectives of this study are to evaluate the effect of thermomechanical cycling and different surface treatments of the inner surface on fracture resistance Y-TZP infrastructure and feldspathic ceramic veneered crowns, and to set the average number of mechanical cycles required for failure and their reliability coefficients and characteristic number of cycles to the joint failure. For this, 225 preparations will be machined in epoxy resin that will receive Y-TZP infrastructure by CAD/CAM system and veneered by feldspathic ceramic crowns. Five surface treatments will be tested (N=45): G1 and G5- cleaning with isopropyl alcohol; G2- overglaze applying; G3- 110 µm Al2O3 particles sandblasting; G4-30 µm SiO2 particles sandblasting. The crowns from G1 to G4 will be cemented to the respective preparations with resin cement and G5 will be cemented with zinc phosphate cement. The fracture resistance will be tested under monotonic compressive load after two aging conditions: absence (n=10) and presence (n=10) of mechanical (1.2 x 106 cycles, 50 N, 4 Hz) and thermal cycling (6 x 103 cycles, 5-55°C, 2 min in each bath). The fatigue strength will be evaluated by the number of mechanical cycles required for specimens fracture under load based on the average found for the monotonic tests. Failure mode will be observed in stereomicroscope and scanning electron microscopy and the results will be statistically analyzed by ANOVA and Tukey's test (5%). The fatigue test results also will be analyzed by Weibull nonparametric statistics. The data obtained will be discussed in front of pertinent literature. (AU)
