Abstract

This project aims to analyze the development of football clubs in the State of Sao Paulo in a defined historical period (1894-1940). The dates were thus marked by theoretical reasons, the year of 1894 is understood as the beginning of football in the state of Sao Paulo and the year 1940 the popularity of football crown with the opening of the Pacaembu Stadium. The project will examine the contours of the historical emergence of football clubs and possibly the dissemination process of the mode by means of transport. For purposes of this project the economic development of regions provided public investments for growth of the cities of São Paulo and the urbanization process and especially the arrival of transport like the train in the interior, river ports in the region of the Tiete River; seaports on the coast and highways throughout the state were critical to the growth of football in the cities. This study will be able to explain the relationship of the clubs with their own means of transport and football as a phenomenon eminently industrial. Suggesting some answers as the bond of football with the urban structure; football transforming the non-urban environment, the importance of cities is related to the number of football associations that it has, the rise and decay of the clubs are tied to the economy, the increase means of transport and the emergence of football clubs.
