Y-Mind: São Paulo School of Advanced Science for Prevention of Mental Disorders | São Paulo – SP

Abstract

Y-Mind – São Paulo School of Advanced Science for Prevention of Mental Disorders is a one week meeting which puts together leading researchers and students working in the field of prevention of mental disorders. The burden of mental, emotional and behavioral disorders (MEB) and substance abuse is growing in Brazil, and now represent 19% of the total recorded diseases in the country. There is robust scientific evidence suggesting that early interventions can bring social and economic benefits when they interrupt the process of evolution of MEB or minimize its progression to a chronic course. The advanced school gathers 100 graduate or post-grad students, with outstanding academic performance, attending programs in neuroscience and mental health fields, with research projects in the area of prevention of mental, emotional and behavioral disorders.
