Abstract

The visit of Dr. Oleg Raichev will be very useful for the long-term collaboration between the Institute of Physics of Semiconductors, Kiev, Ukraine and the various groups dedicated to the study of systems nanostructured in Brazil. Among these groups are the Laboratory of New Semiconductor Materials of the Institute of Physics of the University of Sao Paulo (LNMS-IFUSP) also theoretical and experimental groups of the Federal University of Sao Carlos, of the Institute of Physics of Sao Carlos, USP and many others. As coordinator of LNMS in IFUSP, I have developed several major projects, including the international CNPq-NSF and USP-COFECUB. The general objective of the project is to study magnetotransport in nanostructures semiconductors, such as double quantum wells. The theoretical O. E. Raichev of the Institute of Semiconductor Physics (Kiev, Ukraine) is specialized in the theory of quantum transport. He is the author of a recent monograph on this subject and numerous publications, considerable part of their research record is dedicated coupling of the electronic properties of quantum wells in tunneling, which is essential for the project we propose. O. E. Raichev is experienced in both analytical methods and numerical calculations of the characteristics of quantum transport in solids. The methods of kinetic theory of quantum such as Kubo formalism, and the duties of the Keldysh Green will be used for the realization of the theoretical part of the project activities for research. The discussion of the physical and technological problems related to transport in nanostructures semiconductors and measures to be undertaken in LNMS-IFUSP may accelerate the development of nanoscience in Brazil.
