Abstract

This study aims to understand the psychological meanings reported by obese women who adhered to the recommendations of a multidisciplinary team of a prenatal clinic concerning the adequacy of weight gain during pregnancy. This research intends to seek results that can aid the team of health professionals who provide prenatal care to encourage adherence to the recommendations by obese women during their pregnancies, and thereby contribute to maternal post-pregnancy health. Obesity is now considered a major public health issue, and its prevalence has been steadily increasing over the past few decades. As part of this global epidemy, the number of women in reproductive age with overweight / obesity is also growing. This study will consider the psychological aspects involved in the health of obese pregnant women and their experiences by adhering to the recommendations of the multidisciplinary team in the adequacy of weight gain during pregnancy. This is a non-experimental, clinical-qualitative method, applying fundamentals of the psychoanalysis. The sample of subjects will be completed by the criterion of saturation of information, and the technique used will be semi-direct interview with open questions and observation during data collection. The interviews will be conducted in the Special Prenatal Ambulatory of a public Women'sHealthcare Center in southeastern Brazil, according to the availability of the interviewees during their visits to the service for prenatal consultations and after reading and signing the term of Consent. The technique of data processing will be done through: the full transcript of the interviews, floating readings, categorization to conduct the discussion of the results and qualitative analysis of the content. The results will be submitted for external validation by peers of the Clinical-Qualitative Research Laboratory of Unicamp. (AU)
