Abstract

Vocals changes are common in patients undergoing thyroidectomy, with the primary causes laryngeal nerve injury, highlighting also the possibility of injuries related to endotracheal intubation. Compression larynx goiters and tumor infiltration are other possible causes of dysphonia, soon pre-operatively. Injury prevention of laryngeal structures is fundamental in achieving thyroidectomy, as well as early diagnosis performed by laryngoscopy and voice analysis. Objectives: To perform evaluation and analysis videolaryngoscopic vocal acoustics in pre and post operatively in patients undergoing thyroidectomy to identify vocal disease prior to surgery and will endotracheal intubation. Patients and methods: This will include patients undergoing partial or total thyroidectomy treated in outpatient surgery for head and neck of the Clinical Hospital of Botucatu - UNESP. Will be excluded from the study patients under age 21 years or over 70 years, patients with systemic diseases that compromise or granulomatous vocal function, and reporting of lung disease or previous neck surgery. Patients will undergo a anamnesis to the research objectives, to videolaryngoscopy and acoustic voice analysis (MDVP program) at the following times: before surgery, up to a week after the surgery and after 2 months. Statistical analysis: The results will be analyzed using the chi-square test and analysis of variance. (AU)
