Abstract

Coning and characterization of ubiquitin expression in A. nidulans under different stress conditions. Abnormal proteins arise continuously during any cellular stress process to avoid toxic levels abnormal proteins must be removed. A variety of biochemical and genetic evidence indicates that ubiquitin conjugation is a obligatory step in protein predegradation. We are interested in studying ubiquitin expression during different cellular stress processes in Aspergillus nidulans the main goals are: (i) cloning of the ubiquitin encoding genes of A. nidulans; (ii) characterization of ubiquitin gene expression under different stress conditions, and (iii) deletion or gene disruption of the ubiquitin gene.
