Abstract

We are proposing a series of experiments aimed at the study of how characteristics of stimulation and sensory physiology to basic aspects of visual processing, influence the trial psychophysical scaling, mainly by direct magnitude estimation. The project is divided into three large blocks of experiments: experiments called basic, whose objectives are to address how basic sensory elements for spatial vision such as contrast and spatial resolution can interfere with judgments to simple stimuli, such as lines and circles; experiments called exploration methodology, in which we seek to experimentally manipulate such factors as reference values, inducing sensations as size inducing distance and the third block proposed applications for these experiments seeking to study the judgment of visual stimuli in different classes of psychological illnesses and visual development, such major depression, in partnership with the University Hospital of USP in amblyopia and in subjects with low vision by different eye conditions.
