Molecular epidemiology and genetic diversity study of tuberculosis in São Paulo State

Abstract

Molecular epidemiology, a combination of molecular biology with conventional epidemiology, has benefited the understanding of studies on the spread of tubercle bacilli in mini epidemics, outbreaks, to analyze the transmission dynamics of tuberculosis (TB) and to determine the risk factors for TB transmission in a community. This study aims to provide a more refined vision on the molecular epidemiology and genetic diversity of Mycobacterium tuberculosis in municipalities of São Paulo State. (AU)
