Abstract
The quantification of analytes present in biological matrices requires the development of analytical methods that should be precise, accurate and reproducible under several conditions of analysis. Chromatographic and electrophoretic techniques (capillary electrophoresis) are techniques widely used for these purposes. These techniques have several advantages such as: simplicity, speed of the analysis and, great versatility. Our research group has been working on the development and validation of chromatographic and electrophoretic methods to be further applied in biotransformation studies and in "in vitro" metabolism studies. These studies follow two distinct lines: (1) In vitro metabolism studies of potentially therapeutic compounds using liver microsomes and (2) use of fungi in the biotransformation of drugs, whose metabolism yields in chiral and pharmacologically active metabolites. In this context, it will be developed and validated bioanalytical methods for these purposes. This project aims to continue our research project, which has been supported by FAPESP (grant numbers 2009/06132-0 and 2011/17508-1). The last one will expire on November 30, 2013. It also seeks to solidify a new line of research in the Chemistry Department of Faculdade de Filosofia, Ciências e Letras de Ribeirão Preto. In addition, this project aims in the formation of graduate students in master's and doctoral modalities. (AU)
