Abstract

Taking into consideration that the current vivarium of the Araçatuba School of Dentistry UNESP was built in 1976 and it does not meet the actual researchers demands as well as the current legislation, its makeover and improvements are justified. This way, the building near the actual vivarium building, where there is a currently disabled kennel and a shed will become an annex of the current vivarium .In this first phase, the goal is to achieve the researchers demandthatshifted their research from dogs to rabbits, as well as extend and adapt the structure for packing feed, shavings and cleaning room. The makeover will be performed in the disabled kennel to obtain the best conditionto turn it into a vivarium for maintenance and experimentationof rabbits. The kennel walls and roof will be strengthened and internally divided into reception/quarantine room, two animal rooms (one for maintenance and other for experimentation), one surgical/euthanasia room and one dressing room.
