Abstract

The standard model of elementary particle interactions came across a crucial point: We have preliminary experimental signals for the long sought Higgs boson, as well as we have very strong constraints on possible extensions of the standard model. It is clear that the next LHC data will guide what will be the research in particle physics in the next decades. This project aims the integration of researchers working on theoretical particle physics located at the Federal University of ABC and at Unifesp (Diadema), in the study of the standard model and beyond standard model physics. The topics to be covered in this project are mostly related to the possible extensions of the model that can be observed in the actual and proposed experiments: a) Existence of new particles, as exotic quarks, different types of neutrinos, ultra-light pseudo-scalar particles, as well as their phenomenological consequences, b) Alternatives or extensions of the Higgs mechanism, including new symmetries or a more complex set of scalar bosons and their phenomenology, c) Study of mass generation and chiral symmetry breaking of Gauge theories, existence or breaking of certain symmetries (strong CP violation, Lorentz symmetry violation, etc...).
