Abstract

Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), Syndrome Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) and metabolic syndrome (MS) have defined parameters to diagnose them in isolation. Many studies on the association between COPD and OSAS ("Overlap Syndrome" - OS), and COPD and OSA SM and SM are proposing variables that characterize and / or demonstrate a pathophysiological direction. In this context, we realize that the triad COPD and OSA SM together needs to be studied. Objectives: This study aims to substantiate the parameters to characterize the triad COPD and OSA SM and verify the prevalence of overlap between these diseases. Methods: will be included 120 COPD mild, moderate, severe and very severe, of both genders. After signing the consent form will be submitted to the following procedures: clinical and anthropometric data collection, pre-and post-spirometry brocodilatador, the questionnaires and scales of dyspnea sleep. On another day, after fasting for 12 hours, venous blood will be collected for laboratory tests, test run 6-minute walk, the BODE index calculation and execution of polysomnography, which will be the third call, at night. We expect, therefore, to characterize the triad in all its complexity, which will allow an appropriate therapeutic approach to this group of patients. (AU)
