Abstract

The objective of this study will be to evaluate the clinical performance of cervical restorations in non-carious cervical lesions after different strategies of adhesion. A restorative adhesive system will be evaluated (Single Bond Universal/Z350XT ) with and without selective enamel etching, as well as restorations with resin modified glass ionomer (Vitremer) with and without pretreatment with EDTA. A total of 136 restorations will be performed by two operators in thirty-four volunteers aged between 18 and 70 years. Prior to the implementation of the restorations will be performed a prophylaxis with pumice and water, in order to remove any debris. The cervical lesions will not be subjected to any type of cavity preparation, being restored with relative isolation. All restorations will be assessed through the modified USPHS system. Two calibrated examiners, different from operators, carry out the evaluations in the required time intervals: baseline, 6 and 12 months. The results will be submitted to statistical analysis using Fisher's exact test or the Chi-square test. Intragroup comparisons will be made with the McNemar test. Multivariable logistic regression modeling will be used to assess if any feature of the original lesions will be influence the retention of restorations over time. All tests will be performed at p value 0.05 for the statistical significance. (AU)
