Abstract
This project aims to create a research group focused on storage and supply of electric energy by developing and applying supercapacitor devices. The interest in this study is due to the fact that such devices can be charged in seconds with energy in order of kWh/kg, providing electrical power in the magnitude of kW/kg, if requested.1,2 This innovation is considered strategic by developed countries, because their advantages are important for various equipment such as hospital, electric vehicles, phones and laptops. 3 Considering this scenario, this project will focus on developing national supercapacitors, however, using graphene, carbon nanotubes and porous diamonds, since cutting-edge research has highlighted them as advantageous for these applications due to their properties. As regards the method, it is known that such materials can be prepared in CVD reactors from the vapour phase, so initially this work proposes the construction of a reactor, which will be used to prepare the desirable materials. The evaluation of supercapacitor, on the other hand, will examine the storage and delivery of electric power through electrochemical processes involving the intercalation and diffusion of lithium ions. 4,5 Finally, the goal will be to develop a national prototype of high performance electrochemical double layer capacitor. Many previous results 5, 6 of this researcher applicant and its collaborative network have opened the door for this election, which if be granted is going to allow the formation of a new Brazilian research group in this area (AU)
