Abstract

In the proposed collaborative project the groups at Imperial College London and University of Sao Paolo (USP) aim to join forces to address some of the most critical issues in the development of organic electronics from science towards applications. We choose to focus on fundamental issues, relating to the nature of organic - metal interfaces and to the relationship between chemical structure, processing and the properties of organic semiconductor films. Our goal is to combine knowhow on advanced characterisation techniques in order to improve capability to probe the properties of materials and interfaces. The primary application focus will be solar photovoltaics (PV), on account of the large expertise base in the science of organic photovoltaics at Imperial, and the high potential for application and industrial development of new solar technologies in Brazil. However, the research topic underpins the application of organic semiconductors to a wide range of other electronic devices and to the development of innovative manufacture techniques. (AU)
