Abstract

The interfacial rheometer is an instrument which dynamically provides the simultaneous determination of elastic (storage) and viscous components (loss) of elasticity. The measurements can be performed as a function of frequency, time, pressure, temperature or pressure surface. This is important for the characterization of Langmuir monolayers in conventional Langmuir troughs, and will be the first unit in Brazil. A device like this would open an even wider range of techniques for the characterization of Langmuir films, and it would be of great importance to the groups in Brazil working with these types of systems. It would be useful, therefore, to address interactions of polypeptides, polysaccharides and drugs in Langmuir films, which would also grant to produce LB films with information on the molecular level correlated with the physiological functions of the materials under study. This equipment was planned to be installed at UNIFESP in Diadema (AU)
