Abstract
This project aims to study the urban climate in the ABC Paulista region, analyzing the relationship between the local atmosphere characteristics in the urban space and atmospheric pollutants generated by anthropogenic activities. ABC Paulista is located in the southeast sector of the Greater São Paulo, and is considered one of the most important regions of São Paulo, for its industrial profile and economic dynamism. To achieve the goal, initially methodologies will be applied to identify the main atmospheric phenomena of an urban area, these are: heat islands, local wind circulation and penetration of sea breezes, extreme rainfall events, and thermal comfort. Subsequently, there will be an analysis of air quality in relation to atmospheric pollutants, based fixed stations CETESB. Also assess the quality of rainwater to determine possible acid rain events. Finally identify associations and mutual relations between areas that have high degrees of atmospheric changes, such as heat islands and thermal discomfort and areas of high concentration of pollutants, as well as the local circulation and its contribution to the dispersion of pollutants. The results of this research will be presented in thematic maps and should feature in its initial form the urban climate of the study area. This information should provide subsidies for urban planners, scientists and the general public interested in learning the most critical areas of the urban environment, which can affect the quality of life of the population.
