Abstract

Actinobacteria are known about their abilities to produce many bioactive compounds, including enzymes with multiple biotechnological applications. In this context, lignocellulolytic enzymes are one of the most explored aiming their application in industries that use lignocellulose as raw material. In addition to the cellulose, lignin is also considered as the most abundant polymers at Earth. Structurally, lignin is basically composed by phenylpropanoid compounds and lignans, which are being described about their pharmacological properties, involving cytostatic, antitumor and antiparasitic activities. The present research proposal was elaborated based on previous results obtained by the involved groups, allied to emerging questions related to efficient drugs for treatment of neglected diseases, as well as for the sustainable production of biofuels using vegetal biomass. In this sense, the investigation will be divided in two distinct moments, which are connected in the evaluation of the same substrates for microbial metabolism, some phenylpropanoids from Nectandra neucantha.
