EXPANSION OF COMPUTER INFRA-STRUCTURE FOR MULTI- SPECTRAL SOLAR DATA ANALYSIS OF LATIN AMERICAN CENTER OF SOLAR-TERRESTRIAL STUDIES - CELESTE

Abstract

This proposal aims to improve the computational infrastructure for solar data reduction and analysis in metric and decimetric frequency bands CELESTE - Latinoamerican Center for Solar Terrestrial Studies (Research Group of CNPq), active in the Laboratory of Physics and Astronomy at the Institute of Research and Development - IP&D, University of Vale do Paraíba (UNIVAP), where the applicant is a researcher. Are available for analysis, spectral data of solar radio emission at meter wavelengths range (45-870 MHz) of the CALLISTO-BR (Compound Astronomical Low cost Low frequency Instrument for Spectroscopy and Transportable Observatory) and decimeter waves (1000-2500 MHz) the Brazilian Solar Spectroscope (BSS), both located in the Regional Unit of INPE, Cachoeira Paulista, SP. Data from other spectrographs of e-Callisto network, which monitors solar activity continuously (24 hours) are also available. Also data at different available public domain wavelengths, such as EUV and X-rays (recorded by satellite instruments such as STEREO, SDO, SOHO, GOES, etc.) and magnetograms will be used. Thus, the project aims to expand the group's ability to carry out multi-spectral investigations of solar flares activities, with potential applications in studies of Space Weather and significantly contribute to the training of human resources (undergraduate students, Master's and Doctorate members of the group).
