Arrabidaea chica incorporate into the phosphoric acid or primer of a conventional adhesive system or as a dentin pretreatment in aqueos solution: physical properties evaluation of the solutions and influence on dentin physico-mechanical properies

Abstract

The aim of this study is to evaluate; 1) the long-term bond strength, failure mode and interface micromorphology of a three-step conventional adhesive system to dentin submitted to pretreatment with 2.5% Arrabidaea chica extract or when incorporated into the phosphoric acid or into the primer of the adhesive system after 24 hours and 12 months; 2) physical-chemical properties of aqueous solution, acid and primer incorporated with 2.5% Arrabidaea chica extract: pH, degree of conversion, sorption and solubility, particles distribution, zeta potential, polidispersitivity and extract release from incorporate primer; 3) dentin matrix stability (stiffness) and dentin metalloproteinases inhibition (by in situ zymograph) after dentin pretreatment with aqueous solution of 2.5% Arrabidaea chica extract or when incorporated into the phosphoric acid or into the primer of the adhesive system . Third sound human molars will be prepared for the microtensile bond strength tests, failure mode, interface micromorphology and in situ zymograph. Dentin specimens (beams) will be prepared for the dentin matrix stability (stiffness) evaluation. Adhesive system specimens incorporate or not with the Arrabidaea chica extract will be prepared for the pH, degree of conversion, sorption and solubility, particles distribution, zeta potential, polidispersitivity and extract release from incorporate primer analyses. According to the presence of normality distribution of the data or not, parametric or non-parametric statistical tests will be applied, using a significance level of 5%. (AU)
