INFLUENCE OF DICHLORVOS ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF PROSTATIC LESIONS INDUCED BY MNU IN RATS - EVALUATION OF INFLAMATION MOLECULAR MARKERS

Abstract

Brazil is main consumer of pesticides in the world. Organophosphate pesticides are one of the most used due to their efficiency and relatively low toxicity, one of these pesticides is Dichlorvos (DDVP). The DDVP can act as endocrine disrupters, contributing to the development of prostatic lesion. In the last years, prostate cancer, has been the incident cancer in United State and in Brazil 54 new cases per 100,000 habitants is estimated, being the most common cancer among men. Inflammation predisposes individuals to various types of cancer. The inflammatory process induces the production of cytokines such as TNF± and IL-6 that are involved in the development of prostate cancer. Inflammation can be activated by Toll-Like receptors that can result in the activation of two pathways, NF-ºB and JNK. The NF-ºB signaling pathway plays an important role in cancer responses, inflammation, stress, and cell differentiation. Thus, the present study aims to evaluate the expression of molecular markers of inflammation (TNF±, IL-6, TLR4 e NF-ºB) in the prostate of rats submitted to chemical induction by MNU associated with pesticide dichlorvos.
