Abstract

Organophosphate pesticides are utilized in agriculture for insect control; however, they are toxic for many organisms. Human beings, for example, can function as endocrine disruptors, mutagenic agents, and carcinogens. Among these compounds is the dichlorvos (DDVP), a pesticide very utilized in pest control on account of its efficiency and low cost, nonetheless, is potentially capable of promoting an alteration of lipid metabolism that is associated also with the development of cancer, it can be explained by the fact that tumoral cells can utilize fatty acids to compose its membranes in the making. Bearing in mind the relation between dichlorvos, prostatic carcinogenesis, lipogenesis, and its molecular markers, the present project's objective is to evaluate the influence of pesticide DDVP on lipid metabolism's proteins (SREBP and SCAP) on rats prostates, associated or not the chemical induction by the carcinogen N-methyl-N-nitrosourea (MNU). For this, it will be using 32 male rats of the lineage Fischer 344, with the age of 90 days, which will be separated into four experimental groups: Control, DDVP, MNU, MNU+DDVP. After the euthanasia, the prostate ventral lobe of each animal will be sent for immunohistochemical analyses of the SREBP and SCAP proteins.(AU)
