Given this fact, it becomes imperative that there are qualified teachers ready to act in the musical development of basic education students. This study seeks to know the present situation of the musical training in Pedagogy courses in São Paulo, in order to verify their proposal, challenges and necessities relative to the musical training of their graduates. Starting with a bibliografical review, based on researches and studies on the same topic concentrating in others regions of Brazil, wchich also include questions relative to music education and teacher preparedness, this qualitative study and data collection will be realized by the research of documents, comment not-participant and by questionnaires and semi-structured interviews with course coordinators, teachers and graduating students of five courses of Pedagogy in São Paulo (a multicase study). As a result of the analysis of the data collected, it is hoped we can contribute in some aspects to the improvement of music education in Pedagogy courses in São Paulo and for the advance in research in Musical Education in Brazil.
