Abstract

This research project aims the development of methods for the determination of Rh, Pd, Ir and Pt supported on silica mesoporosa used in automotive catalysts by inductively coupled plasma emission spectrometry (ICP OES). Sample digestion in microwave oven with closed vessel and slurry sampling will be investigated in this study. For sampling of solutions, some procedures for calibration of equipment will be investigated: the use of reference analytical solutions in aqueous medium and use of internal standardization with the elements added in solution or adsorbed to on sample particles in suspension. The elements to be investigated as internal standard are Dy, Gd, in, La, SC, y, Yb and Tl, the heating program for digestion in microwave oven, particles size, acid concentration for slurry sample preparation, power supply, nebulizer gas flow rate and observation zone of ICP OES with axial view are some parameters to be studied.
