Abstract

The prevalence of gingivitis in children is high, reaching a higher degree of severity in early adolescence. The study of the impact of gingivitis on the quality of life of children is still scarce in the literature and requires further research about this subject. The purpose of this study will be to evaluate 50 children of both genders aged 144-155 months (12 years) with diagnosis of gingivitis. The impact of gingival condition on quality of life before and after four motivational sessions to control of gingival bleeding and dental biofilm will be evaluated. The results will be submitted to descriptive statistical analysis, Shapiro-Wilks-W test, Chi-square test to verify the prevalence of impacts on quality of life, Kruskal-Wallis test to examine the differences between the means of groups reporting improvement, stability and deterioration on quality of life, calculation of the effect size to verify the magnitude of change, paired Student's t-test to verify the statistical difference between the change scores. The significance level will set at ±=0.05.
