Abstract

This study identifies and compares the Burnout Syndrome prevalence in dental surgeons with different professional occupations. The sample will consist of undergraduate students of Dentistry and teachers also working as dental surgeons in the city's public health service and those who work exclusively in private clinics. To characterize the sample, socio-demographic information will be surveyed and to evaluate the Burnout Syndrome the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) will be used. The questionnaires will be applied by a single trained examiner. The Burnout prevalence will be estimated by 95% confidence point interval in the different professional occupational categories. To compare the average score of each dimension of the instrument according to the various professional categories, the assumptions of normality, homoscedasticity and independence of waste will be initially tested, and if these are met, the Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) will be performed, otherwise, the Kruskal-Wallis test will be used. For decision making the 5% significance level will be applied.
