Abstract

The current context of Brazilian public schools, which went through a process of democratization in recent decades, brings the challenge of improving the quality of education. Thus, it is necessary that the teachers' formation contribute to face this reality. The forming needs of teachers and their social representations are important issues that must be taken into account by these processes of formation Therefore, we believe that the training undertaken through Pedagogic group work hours (HTPCs) has great potential to promote professional development, meets the needs of teachers and construction of teachers' knowledge in a way to attend the Brazilian's public education challenges. Methodoligical procedures will be used to collect data to identify the social representation of teachers by word recall and the conducting of observation and interview, to get deep on the comprehension of these representations. Two high schools of the initial years of the public education on Presidente Prudente will be taken to perform the research. The data analisys will be executed by content analisys.
