Abstract

The use of biodiesel fuel provides environmental benefits for the whole planet, however, large volumes of glycerine resulting from the production does not have the correct destination. There is a clear view on the possible impacts of this potential supply of glycerin. It is then necessary to develop new research to finding alternatives for the use of glycerin. The objectives will determine the best combination of glycerin with sources of protein and non protein-free diet and compare it with urea or glycerol or both, regarding the performance and nutritional status of Nelore cattle. The work will be conducted at the Unidade Animal de Estudos Digestivos e Metabólicos belonging to Faculdade de Ciências Agrárias e Veterinárias-FCAV/Unesp, Jaboticabal. The treatments are: control treatment, urea treatment, treatment with glycerine, glycerine and urea treatment. To test the performance and meat quality of 28 Nelore cattle will be distributed in randomized blocks in four treatments. Parameters: pH, ammonia nitrogen, digestibility and microbial mass are evaluated in Latin quadadro 4x4, double, in a 2x2 factorial design. Will be used four Nelore cattle fitted with rumen cannulas. Statistical analysis will be performed using the statistical analysis program (SAS, 1991).
