With the advent of a large amount of biodiesel by-products and co-products are generated and should be used in an ecologically and economically viable. An alternative would be the use of animal feed, mainly ruminants. The objective of this study is to assess the effect of adding 10% glycerin with different sources of roughage in the diet on performance, intake, digestibility, enteric methane production, ruminal, microbial quantification and analysis of housing in confined steers. There will be three treatments (sugar cane, fresh sugarcane and corn silage) with fixed level of 10% glycerin. Performance will be used to evaluate 30 Nelore bulls, with initial average weight of 300kg in a completely randomized design. The digestibility, ruminal parameters and quantification of rumen microbiota will be obtained using 9 Nellore, cannulated in the rumen, arranged in an experimental double 3x3 latin square design.
