Abstract

The cassava has great importance for Brazil, not only in terms of consumption but also in productivity, mainly the state of Sao Paulo, which is the sixth largest producer in the country. Like a food, there are a lot of forms of consumption of cassava, but the main are: in natura (table) and industry, focused on production of starch, flour etc. Specifically in Sao Paulo state, there is an important region cassava producing, that is Assis, which has one of the highest index of production in the state, focused to the municipalities of Campos Novos Paulista, Platina and Echaporã, which have the highest productivity of region. The fact that this region been the most representative in the state, takes to reflections on aspects of commercialization of the product by the producers, usually small and midsize producers and industry. Then, the objective of the research will be to analyze and propose improvements to the process of commercialization of cassava industry type in the Office of Regional Development of Assis, focused on the segment of agricultural production. The research is descriptive and qualitative character, because it involves analyzing information related activity, as well as conducting a literature review of theory Agricultural Commercialization. It will also be developed a review about the chain of cassava, especially the segment of agricultural production. There will be a practical research through field studies, applying semi-structured questionnaires with farmers in the municipalities of Campos Novos Paulista, Platina and Echaporã, because they are representative cities in the region's production and in terms of growth rate in production during period analyzed, 2000 to 2009.
