Abstract

The aim of this study is to evaluate the development of a multispecie biofilm on titanium modified surface used in oral rehabilitation with implants. For this study, specimens will be divided in two groups according on the surface treatment received: titanium non-nitrided (TiN) (control) and nitrided (TiN+) (experimental). The surface roughness and the surface free energy (SFE) on the specimens will be determined before and after the formation of acquired pellicle and treatments. The pellicle protein profile formed on specimens will be identified by mass spectrometry before and after treatment with cold plasma. After specimens measurement of surface roughness, surface free energy and sterilization by gamma radiation, they will be packed into 24 plate and will be immersed in saliva for the formation of the acquired pellicle. After acquired pellicle formation, the saliva will be removed and a new universal fluid (FUM) with inoculums containing microorganisms to be studied: Actinomyces naeslundii, Veillonella dispar, Fusobacterium nucleatum, Streptococcus sobrinus, Streptococcus oralis e Candida albicans will be introduced. Every 24h the environment will be exchanged until the biofilm formation in 72h. The viable cells will be expressed by UFC/mm2 and structural analysis will be verified by confocal laser scanning microscope. The amount of the specimens and the statistical analysis will be determinate after pilots studies. (AU)
