Abstract

During transmission lines energization and reclosing maneuvers, a way to limit transient overvoltages is through the controlled switching. Using this method, a delay in circuit-breaker enables that the maneuver occurs in optimal timing, minimizing overvoltages, which allows that the controlled switching replaces other methods, more complex and more expensive as is the case of pre-insertion resistor.During the PhD period, was developed an adaptive controlled switching method for three phase reclosing shunt compensated transmission lines. This method enables to reduce the overvoltage and make the reclose in a shorter time than the provided by the controller existing in the market, thereby reducing the time of power supply interruption.After testing realized successfully using a program for electromagnetic transients simulation (PSCAD / EMTDC), the proposed method was tested using the Real Time Digital Simulator (RTDSTM). The real-time simulations also demonstrate the method efficiency.In this context, the post-doctoral project focuses on prototype development of the developed method for three-phase reclosing that allows to test the algorithm in field. The project includes the prototype performance evaluation, considering a wide range of parameters.
