Abstract

In salivary gland, the myoepithelial cells lie between the basal lamina and the luminal cells and also have an important role in the tumoral biological behavior. Several researches have been emphasizes its importance as a tumoral suppressor that in association with the extracellular matrix proteins, as well as, growth factors exert function in the tumorigenesis process. Among the several growth factors, the Hepatocyte Growth Factor (HGF) has many functions related with physiological process as with the carcinogenesis. So, the aim of this study is to verify in vitro the effect of HGF in different doses (25 e 50·g/ml) on cellular morphology and proliferation in benign myoepithelial cells from pleomorphic adenoma under the influence of fibronectin substratum, as well as, the immunophenotype of these cells by smooth muscle actin, PDGF-A and FGF-2 expression by indirect immunofluorescence.(AU)
