Abstract

The discussion on water scarcity and water quality for human consumption are essential to the water resources management. The domestic and industrial sewage released in water bodies are a threat to public health. However, water quality can be improved by controlling pollution and improving the techniques of disinfection and degradation of compounds. Those consist of the destruction of microorganisms and chemicals. The objective of this project is to develop a cavitating jet apparatus for the disinfection of water, using a new configuration with multiple jets. The new configuration will be tested and compared with the existing one (Process FAPESP 2009/53553-1 and 2009/54278-4), searching for an optimum efficiency. In order to obtain the apparatus parameters it will be used a non-pathogenic bacterium Escherichia coli. (AU)
