Abstract

Introduction: One of the most questions cited to the patients is about the time of orthodontic treatment. There are some factors which are involved. The extraction is a procedure used to help orthodontists, so it can be used when there is sever crowding or in order to correct dental or cephalometric discrepancy. Objective: To compare the time of orthodontic treatment in patients treated with extractions of four premolars. Initially, they presented malocclusion Class II with and without crowding. Material and methods: The sample of this study will be selected by initial models and papers of patients treated at Faculty of Odontology of Bauru, at Orthodontic Department. The sample has to be composited by: permanents teeth including first molars; malocclusion Class II; and maximum three absents during treatment. If the data present normal distribution, t test will be used. If the data present no normal distribution, Mann- Whitney test will be used.
