Characterization of the chemical composition of the essential oils of Lychnophora pinaster Mart. depending of the seasonality.

Abstract

Lychnophora pinaster, medicinal specie with popular use is classified in a category of vulnerable plants from the list of extinction plants. For this conservation programs contribution and to improve this specie future study, IAC researchers realized previous studies with three populations. This study showed differences in the chemical composition of essential oils and genetic variability. Until nowadays, the current literature does not register seasonality evaluations studies of chemical composition from L. pinaster essential oils in their natural habitat. In this context and keeping previous studies, the aim of this work is evaluate the seasonality influence on the yield and chemical composition from L. pinaster essential oils in the natural habitat. Four expeditions will be conduct, one in each season and will be sampled 20 genotypes per population, in a total of 60 genotypes. The essential oil extraction will be made by hydrodistillation process and the essential oils chemical composition analysis will be conducted in a gas chromatograph coupled to a mass spectrometer. Chemical composition essential oil data will be subjected to analysis of variance and means will be compared by Tukey test (P d 0.05) and principal component analysis.
