Abstract

Is proposed in this research analysis and understanding of the process valuation space and formation of a new centrality in the East of Sorocaba, also known as "Além Ponte" (Beyond the Bridge). It has been a central issue of the discovery and analysis strategies sociospatial - particularly the policies undertaken by the power of space public and private sector, especially real estate sector and building - that has transformed the east of this city. Currently, the city of Sorocaba is characterized as an important pole of regional tertiary sector. There is a generalized process of valuation space, tied to the business of real estate and construction, transforming the city into a "real job site works". It is the understanding of the new uses of space urban change the daily life of its population. This analysis focuses on the axis defined by the urban sprawl of São Paulo Avenue on the east side of Sorocaba, constituting a mosaic of projectsreal estate (condominiums, office buildings, commercial galleries, and shopping mall). Paradoxically, this process real estate valuation, and the formation of a new center, has gradually transforming the landscape of the southeastern of the city of Sorocaba, defined in the Master Plan as an area of protection to watersheds.
