Abstract

The maintenance of health depends, among other aspects, of the control of body weight, since obesity is associated with the development of several chronic diseases. Recently, studies have shown that exercise can acutely promote changes in hormones related to appetite and satiety, and decrease the sensation of hunger and food intake post exercise, although this response has shown variation, as a result of sex and exercise intensity. Thus, this study aims to investigate the effect of intensity of the session of aerobic exercise in post-exercise eating behavior (food intake, sensation of hunger and hormones related to appetite and satiety, ghrelin and neuropeptide yy) in men and women. For this, 26 participants (13 men and 13 women) will be submitted to six sessions to obtain: (1) anthropometric data and test to determination of the intensity corresponding to peak oxygen consumption (VO2peak); (2) exercise protocol conducted to determine the total work performed (kJ) to be used to equalize all the workouts; (3-6) exercise sessions at different intensities, and a control session in which the participant will not perform any kind of exercise. All experimental sessions will be conducted randomly, with blood sample and evaluation of hunger sensation in different times, and will be followed by an ad libitum meal. A comparison of the amount of energy consumed will be made using ANOVA with two factors (group and intensity) with repeated measures on the second factor. It will be calculated the area under the curve (AUC) for blood variables and sensation of hunger versus time curve by trapezoidal adjustments. The relationship between the variables will be analyzed using the coefficient of linear correlation test of Pearson. When significant differences be detected from the ANOVA (p<0.05) a Bonferroni post hoc will be used.
