Abstract

The development of mass sterilization programs implies the adoption of surgical procedures at low cost, fast execution, and good postoperative recovery. Thus, it is proposed in this study to evaluate the feasibility of the implementation of two surgical adhesives, n-butyl-cyanoacrylate (Part 1, a student Aline Silva Santana) and 2-octyl-cyanoacrylate (Part 2, Marchiori student Cynthia Bueno), in ovariectomy of rab and the bits muscle and skin closure, as an alternative to the use of suture material for campaigns castration of dogs and cats. Will be formed in three groups of eight rabbits each, which will be used for ligation of the pedicle, closing muscle and skin, nylon (CG, n-08), and n-butyl-cyanoacrylate (GB, n = 08) and 2-octyl-cyanoacrylate (GO, n = 08), respectively. With the aid of a stopwatch, the time spent will be demarcated between the beginning of the procedure (skin incision) and end (complete closure of the skin), the time for pedicle ligation, closure of the muscles and skin. The surgical wound will be inspected daily for 10 days, for healing and dehiscence points. The animals will suffer euthanasia, and the abdominal cavity will be evaluated microscopically for the presence of adhesions and inflammation, and uterine pedicles and the remaining will be evaluated by histology. Results are presented by descriptive analysis.(AU)
