Abstract

The poultry research subsidizes with technology and knowledge the poultry industry development. The reliability of a survey can be measured by the dispersion measures presented by the researcher. There is little material in the literature about the reference values of dispersion measures in poultry research nationally and internationally as well as the relationship between such measures and the number of birds per replicate and number of replicates per treatment. Thus, the objective of this project is to establish ranges for the classification of dispersion measures in poultry research, as well as the relationship between these measures and the number of birds per replicate, number of replicates per treatment, number of birds slaughtered for carcass evaluation, number of eggs collected for analyzes of quality and duration of experiments with birds long cycle. The data dispersion measures, number of birds per replicate and number of replicates per treatment will be obtained from the papers published in all national and international journals rated Qualis / CAPES strata A1, A2, B1, B2 and B3 in area of animal science, from 1990 to 2012, where it is used broilers and layers. When determining the classification bands of dispersion measures by the methodology proposed by Garcia (1989) and Costa (2002). The data in dispersion measures analysis of each work will be correlated to the number of replicates per treatment, the number of birds per replicate and number of samples of carcasses and eggs collected by experiment, will be used Pearson and Spearman correlations. Using data from previously conducted experiments with laying hens will be comparing the results of dispersion measurements over the weeks of conducting experiments according to the number of birds per replicate and number of replicates per treatment. Probationary period shall be defined as great for those layers where the measure of dispersion used by the researcher to achieve the range of low rating.
