Abstract

We intend to study several relations between string theory and gauge theory from the point of view of scattering amplitudes. We have nonperturbative relations, using the AdS/CFT correspondence, perturbative (weak-weak) relations, related to amplitudes of open vs. closed strings, and perturbative information obtained from the alpha' to zero limit of string theory. The Alday-Maldacena construction revealed dual conformal symmetry and interesting structures of gluon amplitude that will be explored. The scattering of colorless objects in QCD is addressed using perturbative methods (resummation of string diagrams) and nonperturbative methods (AdS/CFT) methods. The scattering of open strings needs a regulator for tadpole cancellation conditions, a result that can shed light on the quantum Regge trajectory. The scattering of gluons in N=4 SYM and gravitons in N=8 supergravity are related, both at the tree level (KLT relations) and at the loop integrand level (the BCJ conjecture), and we will study possible extensions to N=0,1,2,4 SYM and N=4,5,6,8 supergravity and n-points.
