Abstract Several technologies have been studied aiming at the removal of organic contaminants in the subsurface including fundamental processes in biological oxidation by microorganisms or by the method of natural attenuation. The specificity of diesel contamination lies in the fact that diesel is made up of a mixture of total petroleum hydrocarbons, including polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH), such as naphthalene. Plant-based remediation is a relatively new, efficient, and environmentally friendly technology, which can be promising for removing many contaminants like hydrocarbon pollutants. The main objective of the current study is to evaluate the effect of naphthalene on the remediation potential of the two plant species on contaminated soil. The species addressed include two distinct groups: grass specie (Brachiaria brizantha) and leguminous species (Glycine max). First experiments will be conducted climate chamber and the analysis variables include the vegetative uptake and germination.(AU) | |
