Abstract

The architect Joaquim Guedes had an important role in Brazilian architecture. His work brought to light important architectural discussions that most of times were controversies. Moving away from the formalism of time and opting for the simplification of construction and adaptation of architecture to daily life, Guedes designed works of great architectural value. In addition to homes and buildings of complex programs, the architect had a great urban actuation, contributing to the development of Brazilian urbanization during the second half of the twentieth century. One of his most important projects is the Urban Plan of Caraíba, BA, the central project of our study plan. The main objective of this research is to study the work of Guedes by conducting an inventory of projects donated to the library collection of FAU / USP. This project is linked to the research of the Reference Center Architectural Culture by Prof.Dr. Monica Camargo Junqueira.(AU)
