Abstract

In Sao Paulo vehicular traffic is the main emission source of air pollutants. Epidemiological studies indicate that current levels of air pollution in the city are related to increased mortality and morbidity. A characteristic observed in Sao Paulo, which is also observed in other urban centers, is the existence of the environmental racism. It is understood by this term that people with lower socioeconomic status tend to experience a greater gradient of environmental pollutant of lesser quality. The region where the Radial Leste Avenue passes has neighborhoods with different socioeconomic characteristics. This project aims to evaluate the influence of pollutants on the people who live or work along of the Avenue Radial Leste. For this, we will be use the micronuclei test in oral mucosa and in Tradescantia pallida.
