Abstract

Breast cancer (BC) is the second most common cancer worldwide and the most common among women. About 22% of new cancer cases in women are breast cancer. Genetic mutations can result either in the loss of the suppressor gene, now in the activation of the tumor-promoting gene, with variable penetrance. Mutations in BRCA1 and BRCA2 are the most well described in the literature. Eighty percent of invasive cancers are ductal or lobular histology. Tumor size and lymph node involvement are important prognostic factors, more than histology. The patient's age, menopausal status, tumor size, lymph node involvement, presence of Hormone receptors, and vascular and lymphatic invasion by cancer provide prognostic information that allows the doctor to choose the appropriate adjuvant treatment. Chemotherapy while positively influencing the survival of patients, it generates a lot of side effects, among them cardiotoxicity. Faced with the widespread influence of cardiotoxicity in chemotherapy, the search for an early marker of cardiac injury in patients on chemotherapy has been the subject of several studies in the literature. The aim is then to assess the concentrations of cardiac troponin I in women with breast cancer at diagnosis, 3 months, and 6 months after initiation of treatment. Also, relate Troponin concentrations to the demographic and clinical data of patients.(AU)
