Abstract

The research will be developed at Faculdade de Ciências Agrárias e Veterinárias (UNESP-FCAV) Câmpus of Jaboticabal, Brazil, SP, with the objective of studying the inheritance of a source of resistance (Gaúcho Redondo melon) to Meloidogyne incognita. To study the inheritance of resistance, the generations and backcross are obtained from the initial cross between the genotype of Gaúcho redondo melon (genotype that are resistant to M. incognita) with the line of JAB-20 net melon (result of the Program's Breeding of culture of net melon at UNESP-FCAV). To study the inheritance of resistance from the F1 generation, all plants will be inoculated with 3,000 eggs and second stage juveniles of M. incognita at the time of transplant. The evaluation of plant resistance to the nematode will be based on the reproduction factor (FR), and to determine the type of inheritance of resistance, the plants that show FR<1 will be considered susceptible and the plants that show FR<1. In the study of inheritance, the values of FR will be submitted to genetic and statistics analysis to determination gene action and genetic parameters.
