Abstract

The intensification of the production system in the sheep industry is needed to get the carcass quality and meat to be made available to the consumer market, with increased demand for food rations formulated to compose for the various categories of sheep breeding animals, the demand for those allow good animal performance and economy in intensive production systems. The objective of this study is to assess the effects of the combination of glycerin, residue from the production of biodiesel, with the cotton seed on carcass characteristics, meat, performance, ruminal fermentation, blood parameters and production of methane and carbon dioxide. The experiment will be conducted at the Animal Unit of Digestive and Metabolic Studies of the Department of Animal Science, Faculty of Agriculture and Veterinary Sciences / UNESP, Jaboticabal which has 1.5 m2 cages suspended slatted floor. Will be used 39 lambs entire, approximately 70 days of age and body weight of 17 kg, lambs will be contemporary and from a commercial herd. The diets are isonitrogenous and isoenergetic, the concentrated volume ratio used will be 30:70. Will be used as forage maize silage. The concentrates will be used for compounds, corn starch, sunflower meal, soybean meal, cottonseed, glycerin, urea and mineral salt. Will be used completely randomized design. The analysis of variance will be performed by adopting the PROC GLM. Verified the significance of the F test (P <0.05), the mean of the experimental diets will be compared using the Tukey test (P <0.05).
