Abstract This project aims to examine the representation of feuilleton s readers of Correio Paulistano, especially with regard to reading its feuilletons from the period of 1860, decade from which the fiction narrative becomes more expressive in the newspaper, to1888, time of proclamation of the Republic. At first, the feuilleton appears as a journalistic strategy proposed by Girardin that seeks to expand the readers of his newspaper Le Siècle. With success achieved in his land, France, the feuilleton becomes part of the journals from several countries, including Brazil. Although there are several studies that draw up the insertion of this new section in Brazilian newspapers and its impact on the national literary production and on the expansion of the number of readers, broader and more systematic studies about the movement and receipt of feuilleton in the province of São Paulo in Brazil have not been conducted, particularly about the newspaper of Correio Paulistano. Based on Paris Scholl of Semiotic in its interface with the history of reading studies in Brazil, we want to apprehend and describe the profile of the readers to wich this section of the newspaper was aimed. We'll analyze the types of texts and the language employed in the construction of feuilleton, such as the manifestation of the enunciation on the discourse, the mode of the inscription of the reader in the texts that compose our corpus. Our intention is to deepen the research that we have been performed since our masters that we study the readers and their practice of reading in order to contribute with studies on reading in Brazil. We want to contribute to the research developed at the Laboratory of Interdisciplinary Studies of Contemporary Representations of Brazilian Reader, at the Language Department and in the Post- Graduate Program of Linguistics of Universidade Federal de São Carlos. | |
