Abstract

This project seeks to update the analytical and conceptual tools in the emerging field of Social Studies of Science, Technology and Medicine, which discusses the changes in scientific activity and the production of biomedical knowledge in the XXI century. In order to contribute to the main project "Platforms of scientific knowledge reproduction in Oncogenomics" (2011/14894-8), this study aims to contextualize the new epistemic agenda under which clinical research activity in oncology and molecular biology of cancer is supported. The goal is to bring new concepts to analyze the dynamics of contemporary science, understanding better how biomedical knowledge is produced, traded and shared internationally. Notions such as "data-driven research" and "epistemic organization" reaffirm the role of technology and governance in the production of biological and biomedical research. This review aims to improve the theoretical scope of the main project and assimilate new concepts discussed on Innogen ESRC Centre for Social and Economic Research on Innovation and Genomics, localizado no ISSTI - Institute for the Study of Science, Technology and Innovation, at University of Edinburgh, UK. It is essential include the Brazilian research and compare how categories and structures of governance of biomedical evidence are built in countries with different trajectories of economic and social development.
